"A-a-aye, I'm on vacation, Every single day 'cause I love my occupation "
Dirty Heads (2017)
This week the Rent 30A squad had an amazing team retreat in Seaside, one of our favorite spots on 30A. Our office for the week was a unique condo with a GREAT gulf view just outside the Central Square hosted by Sandpiper Vacation Rentals (Burke's Oasis). I've been with Rent 30A for just under a year and with so many new things on the horizon, the timing was just right!
Since I've joined on, we've added hundreds of new properties and formed many new relationships/partnerships with Property Managers (PMs) on 30A. It's been incredible to witness the growth of a remarkable company geared towards improving the vacation rental booking experience for guests AND for owners and PMs.
Although I've lived in the area, I'm stationed in Nashville now, so it's always nice to come back to the old stomping grounds and get a taste of the vacation experience from a visitors perspective. The Seaside food trucks do not disappoint. The FIRST thing I did on arrival was "have a Meltdown on 30A" 😉 Zero regrets. In case you've never been, you've GOT to try something from each. Everything from Wild Bill's Beach Dogs, Barefoot Barbeque, and even just a snack from Five Daughters Bakery will leave you having a hard time picking your favorite airstream: they're all amazing. While we're talking food, can't leave out the award winning Po' Boy from Bud & Alley's (congrats on the Golden Spoon y'all!), Mama Dee's incredible Arkan Salsa from For the Heatlh of It , and the blackened Grouper over a Grit Cake from Redbar 🤤
There was much to love about this experience, but I'd say the opportunity to stay in a property that's listed on Rent 30A was top three. We have a ton of Seaside listings on the site, so whether you're looking for something extravagant or quaint (we have about a dozen property mangers or owners and 250 properties) we'll surely have something to fit your needs. This particular condo's location is actually perfect. It's right across the street from the Pavilion, super quick access to the gulf. It was cold, grey and gloomy the first day, but day two the clouds parted and we were able to enjoy sunlight glistening off the emerald waters and Seaside's small-town charm.
There are so many nooks and crannies to get lost in. A team favorite is Sundog Books and Central Square Records. There's no shortage of interesting goodies! Highly recommend stopping by for practical gifts and souvenirs. Sundog books even has a nice selection of gear from our friends at Live Well 30A. Also can't leave out the fact that I had a phenomenal veggie lasagna from Modica Market. I personally love the all the locally owned shops and vibes in Seaside. For instance, Mercantile has and array of "American-made, earth-friendly, cause-related, well-worn and vintage-inspired goods for ladies and their men." Duckies the ultimate "Shop of Fun" is the perfect Seaside experience for the little ones.
Even though I'm familiar with the area, this is the first time I've ever stayed in Seaside. Definitely did my best to take full advantage of all it has to offer. Next time you're ready to make your way down to the Emerald Coast, keep us in mind! Be sure to plan ahead. Book your 2019 stay with us in the month of January and join us for a Rent 30A bonfire during your stay! If you've already experienced Seaside, or if you just want to see what any of the other communities on 30A are like, check out my previous post on Where To Stay On 30A here.
