Paddle boarding on 30Ae
Paddle boarding on 30A is a great way to exercise and get some time with yourself and nature. You will experience and see other people will not- it’s an experience not to miss.
Paddle boarding has a few names: YOLO boarding, stand up paddle boarding (SUP) and paddle boarding. They are all referring to the same activity. Paddle boarding and SUP are general terms for the sport.

Here are some tips:
How to paddle board - paddle boarding is nothing to be intimidated by. Calm water is key for a beginner. All you need is a board, paddle and a bathing suit (you will probably get wet!).
Make sure your board has a leash and you have a PFD (personal flotation device) in case you need it.
Where to paddle board - Try it for the first time on one of our dune lakes or in the gulf on a very calm day.
Check out this map of all of our dune lakes.
Which board is right for me - we love inflatables. They are lightweight making them much easier to carry. They are also durable- you don’t have to worry about damaging them nearly as much as the hard boards. You are also much less likely to hurt yourself on an inflatable board
Look like a pro and avoid damaging your equipment by following these few tips: Be careful to not put pressure on the fin. If you get it shallow water and feel the fin dragging, get off of the board until you are in deeper water. When the board is on the beach or a hard surface, make sure the fin is facing up. Also, use your paddle only to paddle. Not to pole in shallow water. Using your paddle as a pole can break it.
Safety - make sure you have a leash on your board and a pfd and if you are in the gulf be aware of the wind direction.
